::: merry christmas everyone! :::
...thanks to so many of you who wrote us and expressed your love and support...your emails, calls and care packages remind us that we are partners with you in the ministry with which God has entrusted us in this unreached nation...
...with christmas this year falling on a sunday, things seemed more toned down than in years past...maybe it's because we celebrated the wonderfully irregular truth of our savior's birth within the context of a regular weekly service...but then again, isn't that what we do during every sunday service?....we worship our extraordinary God in the weekly flow of our ordinary lives...
...following service, our church family came over for a restful afternoon of fellowship...for japanese families whose members each work so hard during the week, such days of rest are like precious jewels...
...with cooking, talking, laughing, and meeting to discuss church business (usually without us given the language barrier) being our primary activities on these restful afternoons, today was not irregular...
...so while minoru-san excitedly got the hot pan ready...
...the ladies got busy in the kitchen chopping and preparing the ingredients...

...to make a snack made famous in the kansai region of japan: tako-yaki (fried octopus snacks)...
...pouring the batter into the donut-hole shaped pan and then flipping them delicately with a thin bamboo stick is lots of fun...
...the guys, minoru-san and kenshi-san, are expert flippers...
...teach me, master...
...sitting down as a family and sharing the love of christ made christmas very regular this year...
...doing so over octopus snacks added a nice touch of irregularity...
