asb

::: like many of you, i want to study the bible in a deeper way...but with an ever expanding constellation of resources available in the christian publishing world, i'm often unsure as to which resource is right for me...well, if you're not aware of the following resource, i'd like to suggest the recently published archaeology study bible, produced by zondervan (www.zondervan.com) in conjunction with gordon-conwell theological seminary (www.gcts.edu)...

...as you may know, both archaeology proper and the increasingly specialized subfield of biblical archaeology have unearthed a wealth of insights into the original contexts of many perplexing biblical passages, effectively lifting the biblical text from its pages and making it come to life in its own milieu...the ASB brings together a hearty selection of these insights into one single study bible...check it out, kinda pricey ($50) with small font sizes, but the contents make it worth the price...

...as compiler of the index and a project contributor (i.e., editor of glossary and article cross-references), i had to read everything in the asb, so i can personally vouch for the rich and relevant content of this new resource :::

hey angelo, yeah, for two years during seminary i worked for dr. duane garrett (the secondary editor of this project, and, by the way, he's written some brilliant stuff)...though indexing and cross-referencing drove me crazy at times, i was definitely thankful for opportunity to be part of the project...love ya and miss ya brother...take good care down south...
