::: Drawing on resources received from our American partners (thanks CK!), our church team worked hard to put on a fun time for this month's Fun With Claire (クレア と 遊ぼう). Students reviewed past themes (colors, body parts, and clothes) by painting life-size portraits of themselves.

Like previous months, we loved seeing the kids and their moms. Seeing the kids smile makes all the preparations worthwhile. Community is developing, slowly but surely. That's been encouraging. From a team standpoint, again Claire and I were impressed at how effectively we function. It's as if, at some appointed time, the group is wound up and then runs like clockwork. Mikiko and Kenshi handle all the details from intake to trash disposal. Kotomi is great at giving the chapel talk. Yoko lends her creative and comic touch to everything. Naoko brings years of classroom experience to every encounter. Claire, also experienced, provides content and overall direction. Seeing everyone contribute and 'read' each other's minds is, well, a portrait of teamwork.

Oh, and one more thing: you would think that bright paint and young kids would make for a rather messy combination. To our surprise, and to the Kokubus' credit, the room was spotless when we left.
