suzuki

::: we've had the pink invitation hanging on our fridge for a month...at the invitation of two of my students (sister and brother), this afternoon claire and i enjoyed their suzuki violin recital in seaside kobe (akashi)...we certainly felt like anxious (before) and proud (after) relatives...they did well...

...we savor moments like this...sharing in them has been a vital part of christian living in japan...

...as the recital progressed, the level of skill and experience of each performer increased...this progression pointed me to one of the main themes of the book of hebrews: the value of christian preparation and perspiration (the two sides of endurance) and the resulting trajectory of a mature life...God's abundant grace -- reigning in righteousness (romans 5:21) -- certainly gives us firm ground and freedom to believe that within all of us in Christ there is a virtuoso waiting to play with passion and pleasure (philippians 3:13-14; 4:13)...
