...the four of us took the sunday night bullet train to tokyo, the world's most populous city, for part two of our "tokyoto" (tokyo+kyoto) experience...

...thankfully, our bullet train wasn't as crowded as the metro cars we encountered in tokyo...
...talk about contrast...from strolling leisurely through sakura-sprinkled zen gardens in kyoto to snaking our way through crowded subway stations and shop-lined corridors in downtown tokyo...we did manage to find one cherry blossom in this concrete jungle...
...thanks to laura's planning, we had four full days of discovery, which included...
...discovering during a day trip to hakone (a quaint town located near mt. fuji)...
...that the sulfur at "devil's valley" was upper-lip fierce...

...but that the eggs boiled in the sulfur water were yummy...
...discovering the meyhem at tsukiji, tokyo's famous fish market...
...for food lovers, tokyo is utopia...discovering great places to eat in tokyo is worth the price of admission...we loved this hole-in-the-wall sushi bar that serves fish fresh from tsukiji for approx. 70 cents per piece!...thanks takeshi for taking us there...
...discovering more the simplicity of shinto shrines (meiji-jinju)...
...and buddhist temples (senso-ji in akasuka)...

...discovering tokyo's eccentric side...like eating dinner in a prison cell at lock-up, a popular theme restaurant in shibuya (think times square, only much crazier)...even now, sol doesn't know where the heck shibuya is...

...discovering roppongi hills, an ultra-modern district of tokyo...

...by the end of our four days in tokyo, we discovered something else: our feet were worn down ("we must've walked eight miles a day in japan," says laura)...

Hey you guys! Great photos! I love seeing Japan through your blog!
I look so much cooler holding a camera than my amateur brother. Well, maybe I just look less geeky doing it. Can't wait for our turn to visit you guys in the land of the rising sun.
