go chi so
::: among close japanese friends, the disclosure of too much sappy information -- such as how much you love your spouse -- usually provokes a polite phrase uttered after a meal in someone's home: go chi so sama deshita (i have received/eaten well)...said in the aforementioned context, however, go chi so is a dry wise-crack that makes a cheddar-sharp point: we've all had enough for your sappiness...
...at the risk of evoking a go chi so rise out of many of our readers, i am posting a birthday song that i wrote for claire six years ago...as in years past, i sang this song to claire when the clock struck 12.00 on june 22...
...reader beware: if you are allergic to sappiness of any sort, or, if you tend to hurl when you hear amateurish singing recorded in mono-flat audio (or the deadly combination of both, which, i believe this post presents), then please skip this post...or have a bucket ready.
...having said that, i am absolutely unashamed to say that i am my wife's biggest fan and an unabashed proponent of all things sappy (okay, not all things, but most)...so i post this song in a spirit of christian encouragement for all of you who feel this way about anyone dear in your life who is celebrating (or has celebrated) a birthday...

Birthday Song
no fancy gift
could even come close
to capturing the way i feel
about the one that i love most
but i hope that you'll see
and i hope that you'll find
every day my gift to you is a love
that will never lose its shine
no fancy cake
could even come close
to the sweetness i find when i'm
with the one that i love most
but i hope that you'll see
and i hope that you'll feel
every day my gift to you is a love
no one can take away or steal
at the heart of this day
of celebration
is the goodness of our God
a recognition
that in every breath you take
he sustains your life
a life that is saved
through our Lord Jesus Christ
no melody
can quite express
just how much you mean to me
how each day i am so blessed
but i hope you'll believe
that what i say is true
that every second of forever
i will never...
...no never...
stop loving you.

Bobby, that was absolutely beautiful. Even though it's not my birthday yet, I'm so thankful that I can hear an angel's voice to encourage me at this time. God bless you both!
