a sensei with good senses

answering our prayers for a good language helper, God has used our church network to provide us with a short list of promising candidates...earlier in the day, i met with a wonderful brother at new community church...our two hour session was both fun and instructive...i think i will continue meeting him regularly, and by so doing, this brother and i are undoubtedly going to become enduring friends in christ...

...after dinner, claire and i met with morohashi-sensei (teacher), a gentle and humble recent member of gakuentoshi chapel, who last sunday eagerly agreed to be our language helper...

...a helper is different from a formal teacher or tutor...with the latter, the content is hierarchical and teacher-driven, meaning the teacher instructs on topics that he or she decides and dictates...but with the language helper, the content is learner-driven, meaning, during the week we jot down questions and topics that we'd like to learn and ask our language helper to teach us...

...in the role of language helper, morohashi-san is well-suited...he is a sensei with good senses...he is kind, patient, and knowledgeable...he also pronounces words and syllables slowly and clearly...most of all, he is committed to our learning, and that inspires us...!

...join us in thanking God for answering our prayers for language helpers!...
