::: nice weather + free time...this afternoon's winning combination gave us all the reason we needed to experience a festival called "beyond brightness," put on by a premier high school in kobe...so we took the train to nagata, a hilly city about 30 minutes away, and soon found ourselves surrounded by japanese teens...



...our neighbor's daughter was one of the festival's chief coordinators...yesterday her mom tipped us on the whole shebang...so we thought we'd go and surprise her daughter and make another connection with this family (a month ago we cheered on their youngest daughter in her first gymnastics competition)...it was fun to see and be surrounded by japanese youth, with their shaggy hairstyles, their raggy fashion, and their love of...
